Can Your Decor Actually Change Your Life? Here's What My Office Transformation Taught Me About Local Space Astrology

By Faith Grace | Faith Grace Inspires

I know what you're thinking. Decor? Really? You want me to believe that a new throw pillow or a fresh coat of paint is going to change my life?

Hear me out.

Because a few months ago I reorganized and remodeled my office, and what happened afterward stopped me in my tracks. Not because the space looked better, though it does. But because of what shifted energetically almost immediately after. And once I looked at my local space chart, it made complete sense.

So yes. I genuinely believe a well-timed trip to TJ Maxx or Target can change your life. And I'm going to tell you exactly why.

First, A Quick Refresher on Local Space Astrology

If you're new to the concept, local space astrology takes your birth chart and projects it as a series of directional lines radiating outward from your specific address. Each planet in your chart casts a line in a particular direction through your home, and the space that falls along that line carries that planet's energy.

Your Jupiter line flowing through your living room brings expansion and abundance to that space. Your Moon line running through your bedroom deepens rest, emotional processing, and intuition there. Your Mars line cutting through your home gym? That's practically a cheat code for motivation and physical energy.

When you decorate, organize, and arrange your space in alignment with these planetary zones, something shifts. The energy in the room starts working with you rather than against you. And the results can be surprisingly tangible.

What Happened When I Remodeled My Office

I recently reorganized and remodeled my office. At the time I was making decisions based on aesthetics and functionality. What looks good here. What makes the space feel more productive. The usual thought process most of us go through when we're refreshing a room.

The area that received the most transformation was my back wall. New wallpaper, rearranged furniture, a complete energetic overhaul of that corner of the room.

It was only afterward, when I looked at my local space chart, that I realized exactly what I had done.

My Mercury, Midheaven, and Pluto local space lines all run through that back wall.

Let me tell you what happened next.

Within weeks of completing that transformation I noticed something I hadn't felt in a long time: a sudden, almost surprising increase in confidence. A willingness to be seen. A desire to stand fully in my power and stop shrinking. Opportunities to speak, create, and show up publicly started arriving with a momentum I hadn't experienced before.

Coincidence? I don't think so.

Mercury governs communication, clarity, and expression. The Midheaven governs legacy, public presence, and how the world sees you. Pluto governs transformation, power, and everything that rises from the ashes of what no longer serves you.

I essentially activated all three in the most prominent area of my workspace without even consciously planning to do it.

And there's one more layer to this that I find endlessly fascinating. As I was decorating, I noticed I kept gravitating toward certain aesthetics. Warm tones, lush textures, sensory richness. Things that felt indulgent and beautiful and grounding all at once. Very Taurus. Very Venusian.

My natal Mercury and Midheaven are both in Taurus.

So not only was I activating those lines spatially through the placement of furniture and wallpaper, I was also instinctively honoring the planetary energy through the aesthetic choices themselves. The colors I chose, the textures I selected, the overall feeling I was drawn to. All of it was in resonance with the planetary signatures of that exact space.

This is what local space astrology does. It reveals the intelligence already operating beneath your instincts. And when you work with it consciously, the results are amplified.

How Rearranging Energy Through Decor Actually Works

Here's the concept that shifted everything for me, and that I now use with clients.

Your home is not a neutral container. It is an energetic field that is constantly in relationship with you, your chart, and the planetary lines running through it. Every object you place in a room, every color you choose, every piece of furniture you position is either supporting or disrupting the natural flow of energy in that space.

When you place items associated with focus and communication on your Mercury line, you feed that energy. When you bring beauty, softness, and pleasure into your Venus zone, you amplify it. When you declutter and transform the space along your Pluto line, you are quite literally creating the conditions for personal reinvention.

This is not abstract or mystical. It is practical, intentional, and deeply personal because it is based on your specific chart, not a generic set of rules.

No two people have the same local space lines running through their home, even if they live in the same building. Your chart is yours. And so is the energy map of your home.

You Don't Have to Do a Full Renovation

This is the part I really want you to hear.

You do not need to gut your apartment or hire an interior designer to start working with your local space lines. Sometimes the shift starts with something as simple as:

  • Moving your desk to a different wall

  • Adding a specific color to a room through pillows, artwork, or a candle

  • Placing a plant, a crystal, or a meaningful object in a particular zone

  • Clearing clutter from an area that corresponds to a planet you want to activate

I genuinely believe that a single intentional trip to your local home goods or decor store, with your local space chart in hand and a clear sense of which zone you want to activate, can create a ripple effect in your life that goes far beyond the object you bought.

Because you are not just buying a picture frame. You are feeding an intention into a specific planetary zone in your home. And your chart responds.

How to Map Your Local Space Lines Onto Your Floor Plan

Before you can work with your local space lines intentionally, you need to know where they actually fall in your home. Here's a simple way to do it yourself.

Start by drawing an accurate floor plan of your space. It doesn't have to be architectural quality — a clean hand-drawn sketch with reasonably accurate proportions works perfectly. Include all the rooms, walls, doorways, and windows you want to work with.

Next, find true north. Use a compass app on your phone and take a few readings in different areas of your space to get a consistent reading. Electronic equipment like televisions, routers, and appliances can sometimes distort a compass reading, so move away from those when you're measuring. Once you have your north direction, draw the four cardinal points, north, south, east, and west, onto your floor plan.

Now find the center of your floor plan. The easiest way to do this is to draw diagonal lines from corner to corner across your plan and mark where they intersect. That intersection point is your center. If your home has an irregular shape, extend the outline to create a regular rectangle or square first, find the center of that shape, and use that as your center point.

From there, overlay your local space chart onto the floor plan, aligning the chart's directional lines with the cardinal points you've already marked. If you print your local space chart and your floor plan at the same scale, you can literally place one on top of the other. Some people print the local space chart on a transparency sheet which makes the overlay process even easier.

Once overlaid, you'll be able to see which planetary lines run through which areas and walls of your home.

A few things to keep in mind as you do this. Each planetary line radiates in both directions from the center point, so a line doesn't stop at one wall — it extends through the full room in that direction. Both directions carry the planet's energy, though some astrologers note that the side where the planet actually sits in your chart may feel slightly more activated.

If two planets in your natal chart are very close together, within about five degrees of each other, their local space lines will run nearly parallel and their energies will blend rather than operate independently. In that case treat them as a combined influence rather than two separate zones.

Once you know where your lines fall, the real work begins — and that's where the fun comes in.

The core principle of working with local space at home is what astrologers call the conjunction, meaning the relationship between a planetary line and whatever object, color, or function exists in that zone. Your Mercury line meeting a cluttered corner isn't great for clear communication. Your Venus line flowing through a cold, stark room isn't supporting the warmth and beauty that Venus wants to express. But your Jupiter line anchored by a lush plant and open shelving? That's expansion energy being fed exactly what it needs.

Everything in a space carries meaning — color, shape, texture, and function all carry planetary associations. Warm reds and sharp objects tend to align with Mars energy. Soft curves and watery textures resonate with the Moon. Books and built-in storage echo Jupiter. Fresh flowers, mirrors, and anything beautiful feeds Venus. When your decor choices are in harmony with the planetary line running through that zone, the energy flows. When they're in conflict, you may notice that an area of your home (or your life) feels inexplicably stuck.

The Areas of Life You Can Activate Through Your Space

Different planetary lines in your home correspond to different areas of life. While every chart is unique, here's a general sense of what activating certain zones can support:

Activating your Mercury zone supports clearer thinking, stronger communication, and creative expression. This is a powerful area to focus on if you work from home, create content, or are working on any kind of writing or speaking project.

Activating your Venus zone supports beauty, pleasure, and attraction. This could translate to improvements in your relationships, a stronger connection to your own self-worth, or simply a greater sense of enjoyment and ease in your daily life.

Activating your Jupiter zone supports expansion, opportunity, and abundance. This is a wonderful zone to amplify if you are growing a business, seeking new opportunities, or simply wanting to feel a greater sense of possibility in your life.

Activating your Moon zone supports emotional wellbeing, rest, and intuition. Bedrooms and quiet retreat spaces often benefit most from intentional attention to the Moon line.

Activating your Midheaven zone, as I experienced firsthand, supports visibility, confidence, and career momentum. If you have been hiding or holding back, this is one of the most powerful zones to work with.

Your Space Is Telling You Something

Looking back at my office transformation, I am struck by how much my instincts already knew. I was drawn to specific colors, specific textures, specific arrangements without fully understanding why. My chart was guiding me toward the activation it needed.

Most of us move through our homes without ever stopping to ask what the space is reflecting back to us. We decorate by trend or by accident or by whatever fits in the budget. And then we wonder why some rooms feel alive and supportive and others feel heavy or stagnant no matter how many times we rearrange the furniture.

Local space astrology answers that question. It gives you a map. And once you have the map, every decision you make about your home becomes intentional.
