Venus Retrograde in Scorpio 2026: What Are You Devoted To?
What this retrograde means for you, plus a breakdown for every rising sign
Venus stationed retrograde in the sign of Scorpio on Saturday, October 3rd. I've been taking the time to really sit with this energy and the things that came up during the pre-shadow period of this transit, and one question keeps rising to the surface:
What are you devoted to?
This retrograde is asking us what we love enough to stay with, and what we've been holding onto out of habit, fear, or attachment. While Venus is in Scorpio, we get honest about what's driving our desires. When she moves back into Libra, we decide what's truly worth our time, energy, and heart.
A Quick Refresher
If you're new to astrology, Venus rules our desires, our connections (romantic or platonic), femininity, magnetism, beauty, art, and so much more. In the sign of Scorpio, she goes deep.
Many astrologers use the myth of Persephone to describe Venus's current "descent" into the underworld of Scorpio and the Plutonian themes that may come up during this time. Why? A retrograde is when a planet appears to move backwards from Earth's point of view (geocentric). During this time, a planet may express itself in an opposite or shadow side manner compared to what it's usually associated with.
Does this mean your relationships or finances will definitely fall apart and your beauty will diminish? No. Can that happen? Of course, but that could happen any time.
The Timeline
Venus is retrograde from October 3rd until November 13th. She begins in Scorpio and briefly dips back into Libra around October 25th.
While she's in Scorpio, we are confronting our shadows: jealousy, secrecy, resentment, attachment, vices. What have you agreed to without fully considering the consequences, whether emotionally, spiritually, physically, or financially?
When Venus moves back into Libra, it becomes a time to truly revisit and decide: what does balance and reciprocity look like for you? This applies especially to the areas where heavier energy and power dynamics came up while she was in Scorpio.
The stereotypical Venus retrograde advice still applies (watch your spending, be mindful of past lovers returning, expect relationships and emotional connections to feel very intense), but don't let that intensity overwhelm you in any area of your life.
What Stood Out in the Chart
Whenever a planet stations retrograde, I like to look at the chart for that exact moment. Think of it as a snapshot of the energy that sets the tone for the entire retrograde. A few things stood out to me: Venus trine the Moon in Cancer, Mars in Leo opposing Pluto in Aquarius, and the Moon squaring Saturn in Aries.
Venus Trine the Moon in Cancer
Allow yourself to feel and heal. Let your emotions take form, and have the courage to face them. Don't try to rationalize or rush an explanation for your mood, feelings, or actions before you've fully felt them. With Mercury also in Scorpio, we may be tempted to lean heavily on logic during this time, but there's always a spiritual or emotional side to things that can be explored.
It's okay for you to be held. Support is safe. Find your home and your family. Some of us may be connecting with our soul tribe right now.
Ask yourself: Are you acting from impulse or vain desire, or do you actually feel the emotion? Are you acting from your heart?
Do you have anyone you trust that you can truly be metaphorically naked around? Meaning, can you take off the masks and armor and be real with anyone right now?
Mars in Leo Opposing Pluto in Aquarius
You can use power without brute force. The tension between these two planets invites us to explore the different types of power and when to use them. Are you exerting your will in a way that serves you and only you? How well is that being received right now?
There are multiple ways to reach your goal without the force and fire of Mars in Leo. Likewise, there is more to power than domination, as Pluto retrograde in Aquarius is teaching us.
This is not the time to force an outcome. Step back and assess the situation for what it truly is, and from the perspective of everyone involved.
It also wouldn't surprise me if more people (especially those who are usually more timid) find themselves being bolder, louder, and more provocative during this retrograde. Venus is in Scorpio, after all. This opposition at the start suggests that more of us may be ready to let loose and explore the taboos of the 8th house and Scorpio energy: sex, death, power, loss, the occult.
The Moon Square Saturn in Aries and the Sun in Libra
Two words come to mind: discipline vs. devotion.
During this retrograde, we're re-evaluating the value of things: our time, our energy, our money. With pressure building between the Moon (our emotions) and Saturn (our inner structure) at the start of this retrograde, our limits may be tested. This could stir up a lot of emotion, threaten what's near and dear to us, and bring challenges that prompt us to decide whether we're truly devoted and willing to go the long haul for what we love or desire. This applies to love, family, goals, career, and your overall choices.
Saturn, who is also still retrograde, in Aries is teaching us the beauty of a slow burn over racing to the finish line. With Venus in Scorpio, that lesson intensifies: embrace the buildup, and thoroughly research and evaluate your choices before you commit. Bonus: Mercury is also in Scorpio, so really think things through right now.
Slow Down and Return to Play
Above all, Venus retrograde is inviting us to slow down. What's the rush?
Remember that creative project you started? Let's pick it back up. Return to whimsy. Return to play. Practice receiving, and pour into yourself. Receiving could come in the form of gifts, or even feedback from a friend (yes, even if you don't want to hear it). These things may be coming up for our growth.
Devotion includes what we give to ourselves, so let this retrograde remind you to be devoted to you, too.
What Venus Retrograde Means for Your Rising Sign
This is all cute and general, but what exactly does it mean for you? The breakdowns below are based on your rising sign, since that's the most accurate way to read horoscopes. Feel free to check your Sun and Moon signs too. Take what resonates and leave the rest.
Aries Rising
Venus moves through your 8th house of shared resources, intimacy, and other people's money, then back into your 7th house of partnership. Debts, joint finances, and who holds the power in your closest bonds may come up for review. Are you giving more than you're receiving, or holding back out of fear of being truly seen? Once Venus dips into Libra, the question becomes simple: does this partnership feel like a true exchange, and are you both devoted to it?
Taurus Rising
Venus is your chart ruler, so you may feel this retrograde more personally than most. She starts in your 7th house of committed partnerships and then moves into your 6th house of daily routines, work, and health. Old relationship patterns (or old flames) may resurface so you can see clearly what you've been tolerating. Later in the retrograde, look at your daily habits: are you caring for your body and your time the way you'd care for someone you love?
Gemini Rising
Venus works through your 6th house of work, wellness, and routines before slipping back into your 5th house of joy, romance, and creativity. Power dynamics with coworkers, or habits you've outgrown, may need a closer look. What are you doing every day out of obligation that's quietly draining you? When Venus enters Libra, make room for pleasure again and revisit a creative project or a flirtation that once lit you up.
Cancer Rising
Venus moves through your 5th house of romance, pleasure, and self-expression, then into your 4th house of home and family. Passionate connections or old creative desires may resurface with surprising intensity. Are you chasing pleasure, or actually feeling it? As Venus enters Libra, home life and family dynamics come forward. What does a peaceful, reciprocal home look like for you?
Leo Rising
Venus starts in your 4th house of home, roots, and family, then moves into your 3rd house of communication and your immediate environment. Family history, old wounds, or questions about where you truly belong may surface. With Mars in your sign opposing Pluto, resist the urge to force a resolution at home. When Venus moves into Libra, conversations with siblings, neighbors, or friends may need a softer, more balanced approach.
Virgo Rising
Venus moves through your 3rd house of communication, learning, and siblings, then back into your 2nd house of money, values, and self-worth. Words carry extra weight right now, so watch for secrets, gossip, or conversations that cut deeper than intended. Later in the retrograde, your finances and spending come into focus. What do you truly value, and is your money reflecting that?
Libra Rising
Venus is your chart ruler, so this one is personal. She begins in your 2nd house of money, possessions, and self-worth before returning to your 1st house of identity and appearance. Look closely at what you've been attaching your worth to. When Venus re-enters your sign, you may feel called to reinvent your image or redefine how you show up. Take your time, and maybe hold off on drastic hair or appearance changes until she's direct.
Scorpio Rising
Venus retrogrades right over your 1st house, so you're the one doing the descent. Your magnetism, your image, and how you relate to others are all under review. Who are you underneath the armor, and are you as devoted to yourself as you are to everyone else? As Venus moves back into Libra and your 12th house, expect old feelings, hidden desires, or unfinished emotional business to rise to the surface for healing. Rest is productive right now.
Sagittarius Rising
Venus moves through your 12th house of the subconscious, secrets, and endings, then into your 11th house of friendships and community. Hidden feelings, secret attachments, or habits you've kept to yourself may come to light. What have you been keeping in the dark that's ready to be released? Once Venus enters Libra, reassess your friend groups: who truly reciprocates, and who only shows up when it's convenient?
Capricorn Rising
Venus starts in your 11th house of friendships, networks, and long-term hopes, then moves into your 10th house of career and reputation. Power dynamics within your circles may surface, and people from your past may reappear. Are your goals still truly yours? When Venus dips into Libra, focus on your professional relationships and public image, and on whether your career reflects what you're devoted to.
Aquarius Rising
Venus moves through your 10th house of career, reputation, and public life, then into your 9th house of beliefs, travel, and higher learning. With Pluto in your 1st house opposing Mars, power struggles at work may feel especially charged. Remember that there's more to power than domination. Later in the retrograde, revisit your beliefs, a past study, or a travel plan that never came together.
Pisces Rising
Venus moves through your 9th house of beliefs, travel, and higher learning, then into your 8th house of intimacy, shared resources, and transformation. You may question a belief system, a teacher, or a philosophy you've been devoted to. Is it still feeding your soul? As Venus enters Libra, look at what you share with others financially and emotionally. Where is there imbalance in what you give and receive?
Final Thoughts
Venus stations direct on November 13th. Until then, go slowly, be honest with yourself, and let this retrograde show you what you're truly devoted to. Whatever stays with you through the descent is worth keeping.
