How to Generate Your Astrocartography Map on Astro.com
So, you now have a better idea about Astrocartography and how it works. Now, you may be wondering, how do I generate my map? (If you aren’t, check out this previous blog post).
This article will walk you through the process of creating your own Astrocartography map using Astro.com, step-by-step, so you can start exploring your planetary lines and their potential influences.
Step 1: Go to Astro.com
Visit www.astro.com. This is one of the most trusted and widely used astrology websites. You don’t need to create an account to generate a basic map, but creating one allows you to save your data for future use.
Step 2: Navigate to the Free Charts Section
On the homepage, hover over or click the “Free Horoscopes” tab in the main menu. From there, scroll down to “Extended Chart Selection” or “AstroClick Travel” under the “Interactive Horoscopes” section.
AstroClick Travel gives you an interactive map where you can click on lines for explanations.
Note: You will need to create an account if you haven’t already.
Step 3: Enter Your Birth Data
You’ll need your:
Exact birth date
Exact birth time (to the minute, if possible)
Birthplace (city, state, and country)
Accurate birth time is essential, as even a small difference can shift the location of your planetary lines.
Step 4: Generate Your Map
Once your birth details are entered, click “Continue” or “Click here to show the chart.” Your Astrocartography map will appear with colored lines running across a world map. Each line represents a planetary influence when you are in or near that location.
Step 5: Understand the Map Layout
You’ll see lines marked with planetary symbols (☉ for Sun, ☽ for Moon, etc.) and abbreviations like MC (Midheaven), IC (Imum Coeli), AS (Ascendant), and DS (Descendant).
MC lines relate to career, visibility, and life direction.
IC lines relate to home, roots, and family connections.
Ascendant lines influence how you present yourself and how others perceive you.
Descendant lines influence relationships and partnerships.
If you’re using AstroClick Travel, you can click on any line to read a short description of what that planet’s energy might bring in that location.
Step 6: Save or Print Your Map
For future reference, you can screenshot your map or, if you have an account, save it directly on Astro.com. You might also want to print it out so you can mark places you’ve lived, traveled to, or are considering visiting.
Step 7: Use as a Reference Tool
This map is a starting point. It can help you explore how different places might align with your personal energy. For deeper insights, you might pair your map with Local Space lines or consult with an astrologer who specializes in Astrocartography.
Once you’ve generated your map, take some time to explore it and get familiar with the different planetary lines and points. Understanding your map can be an ongoing process, and revisiting it as you learn more about Astrocartography can reveal new insights.
