New Moon in Aquarius Solar Eclipse 2026: Power, Accountability, and Collective Change
New Moon/Solar Eclipse at 28° Aquarius
Chart Ruler: Uranus (modern) and Saturn (traditional)
Remember how I mentioned there was a push and pull between the powers of the world and how the collective is being served in the Full Moon in Leo blog? That energy is surfacing again during this New Moon in Aquarius Solar Eclipse.
This is not just a reset. We are beginning a new cycle.
Aquarius represents the Water Bearer, which often causes confusion about its element. It is air. It is consciousness. It is perspective. It is the ability to be present in your own life while sensing the undercurrent of the collective.
If you have ever interacted with someone with strong Aquarian placements, you may notice how they can be physically present yet mentally and spiritually elsewhere. Aquarius does not prioritize aesthetics or polished narratives. It values honesty. It respects imperfection when it reveals something real.
Themes that may surface include:
Collective responsibility
Friendships and networks
Humanitarian efforts
Your individuality
Your role within group dynamics
This Solar Eclipse begins a new series on the Leo–Aquarius axis that will continue until January 2028. The last eclipse at this same degree in Aquarius occurred in February 2018. Reflect on that period of your life. What was shifting? What were you becoming aware of?
Previous Leo–Aquarius eclipse cycles between 2008–2009 and 2016–2019 coincided with significant societal changes, including the 2008 financial crisis and the early stages of the global pandemic. These were periods of structural adjustment on a global scale.
We are entering another period of change.
We are being asked to recognize contrast. To understand the difference between intellectual understanding and lived acceptance. Acceptance does not mean approval. It means acknowledging reality as it is.
What has been driving your life? Your career? Your relationships? Your habits?
Eclipses reveal what has been operating beneath the surface. Hidden fears, desires, and patterns may rise into awareness. This is an invitation to look at them directly.
New Moon/Solar Eclipse Conjunct Mars and Pluto
There has been collective exhaustion from witnessing misuse of power. Many people want change. The question is whether we are ready to embody it.
Change at the collective level begins at the individual level. It shows up in daily decisions, habits, reactions, and boundaries.
Aquarius represents the people, but it also represents how the individual contributes to the whole.
This eclipse asks you to consider:
What are you avoiding?
Where do power struggles show up in your life?
In what ways have you handed your authority to others?
What would it look like to take responsibility for your role?
Real change requires introspection. It requires accountability. It requires examining patterns without defensiveness.
Pluto intensifies this process. Mars adds urgency and momentum. Together, they bring awareness to power dynamics and personal will.
The work begins internally before it expresses externally.
Rulers of the Chart
The Chart rulers for this Solar Eclipse would be Uranus (modern ruler) and Saturn (traditional ruler). I’ve already said my fair share of both in various blog posts (Uranus- Full Moon in Leo, Uranus in Gemini; Saturn- Neptune and Saturn enter Aries). However, I’d like to revisit a few things…
Uranus in Taurus continues to challenge our sense of stability and value. It asks us to evaluate what we are building and whether it reflects our true priorities.
Saturn in Aries encourages disciplined courage. It invites structured action and mature leadership. Aries energy can be impulsive, but Saturn slows it down enough to create intentional movement.
Chiron in Aries remains active, highlighting wounds around identity and self-assertion. You may notice tension between who you believed you were and who you are becoming.
These planetary influences encourage responsibility for your path. When individuals take ownership of their choices, collective shifts become possible.
Venus and Mercury in Pisces Trine Jupiter
There is still softness available within this eclipse.
Venus, Mercury, and the North Node forming a trine to Jupiter creates room for imagination and expansion. Desire may feel more spiritual than material. Communication may feel intuitive rather than analytical.
Mercury in Pisces does not rely on rigid structure. It processes through emotion, symbolism, and embodiment. Insights may arrive through dreams, art, prayer, silence, or unexpected conversation.
Venus with Jupiter amplifies longing and possibility. You may feel called to pursue something that once felt unrealistic.
This is a supportive current within an otherwise intense eclipse.
In order to understand how this energy may play out for you (I invite you to also be curious and allow the energy to reveal itself to you), I recommend that you take a look at your birth chart. Look at what houses are ruled by Aquarius, Leo, Aries, Pisces, and even Taurus. The themes of these houses may have a role to play during this new moon/solar eclipse.
