How Astrology Helped Me Understand Myself — and Everyone Else
I remember growing up feeling a bit… misunderstood.
I was the new girl, over and over again. My family moved frequently during my early years, and I was always trying to find a sense of stability in a world that seemed to be constantly shifting. At home, I was a completely different person — noisy, enthusiastic, dramatic — but in public, I fell back into myself. Quiet, reserved, more of a wallflower than a center-stage character.
Some people called me “too much” at home and “too little” in the world. It felt confusing — which was the real me?
Discovering astrology opened a whole new world for me. It challenged this black-and-white view I had about myself. It made me realize I wasn't conflicted — I was complex.
As a Gemini Sun with a Taurus Mercury, I naturally love to learn and observe. My mind is a busy place, filled with questions and curiosity about everyone and everything. But I communicate in a more deliberate, slow-paced way — I take my time to form my thoughts and find exactly the right words. That explained a lot about me.
Suddenly, I understood I wasn't strange or two-faced; I was multifaceted — a rich mixture of traits — and that's what made me, me.
Using the archetypes of the Zodiac, I started to view not just myself, but the people around me, through a more compassionate and insightful lens.
I recognized:
Why some people are more dramatic and outspoken, while others prefer the background.
Why my best friend seemed to operate from pure feeling, while I was more comfortable thinking first.
Why a family member seemed to withdraw under pressure, while I fought it with curiosity and adaptability.
Instead of feeling misunderstood or disconnected, I fell in love with this rich human diversity.
Astrology gave me context — a framework to appreciate my own unique blend of traits and to appreciate the complexity in everyone else.
My years of observation — sitting quietly on the sidelines, despite the Gemini stereotypes— suddenly made perfect sense. I wasn't a wallflower; I was a student of human nature.
And now, when I meet someone, I appreciate their Sun, Moon, and Rising (and all the rest) not as a literal “label” but as a rich story — a unique soul expression — trying to navigate this wild human experience just like me.
